What will they do with today?

Before you get started with your exploration of Google Apps, take some time to think about what you already know about Google Apps and online technologies in general. Any time you use “free” services online, you are providing valuable data to companies that they use for a variety of purposes. If you have a personal Google account, Google probably already “knows” quite a bit about you. We’ll discuss this more in the 2nd blog post.

For this post, you will explore some of the fundamental questions regarding Google Apps (what are the different types of Google accounts, what is the G Suite for Education, what Google apps are there, what are the differences between Google and Microsoft apps). It’s very important that you fully understand the differences between the various types of Google accounts and features because they will allow you to or prevent you from doing certain things depending on which account you’re using.

Do some research and answer the following questions:

Google Accounts
  1. What are the different types of Google accounts?
  2. What is G Suite for Education and how is it different from your personal Google account?
  3. What are the limitations and use cases for each: personal Google account, G Suite for Business (basic, business, enterprise), G Suite for Education (G Suite for Education, G Suite Enterprise for Education)?
Google Apps

  1. What apps are included in the G Suite for Education (business version - middle tier)?
  2. What Google apps (in the G Suite or not) are the most relevant to you (rank your top 10)?
  3. Rate your proficiency with each app from 0-4 (0 = never used, 4 = expert)
  4. What other Google apps or services have you heard of that you are interested in learning more about?

Google vs Microsoft
  1. How are Google Apps different from Microsoft Office Applications (Office 365)?
  2. When should you use one over the other?
  3. What apps/services/features does Office 365 provide that Google doesn’t?
  4. What apps/services/features does Google provide that Office 365 doesn’t?
